Think ‘Shark Tank’ for the medical industry: #kiddingnotkidding. But when 16 international teams presented their best ideas for medical devices and digital health solutions at MEDICAL FORGE Leipzig’s selection day in December 2022, there was some anticipation in the room. After the accelerator’s successful start in 2022 with 8 contenders, the number of applicants for this second round had tripled and spanned the globe – from Kazakhstan to the USA. A jury of Leipzig-based medical experts chose 8 top teams for 2023. Starting in April, these winning start-ups can look forward not only to state-of-the-art infrastructure (think fully-equipped wet labs and workstations), but to helpful coaching and access to Leipzig’s innovation ecosystem. The ultimate goal: To change lives through innovative medical technology.
