During the 5-year research project, scientists at Leipzig University’s Institute for Drug Development and their partners will be designing virtual vaccine candidates with the aid of classical and AI-supported software. They will be focusing on ten virus families with high pandemic potential. Researchers will be able to generate and seamlessly share knowledge via the library. This can help improve vaccine design – and make their rollout faster in the face of future pandemics. Houston Methodist Hospital in Texas/USA is a partner of the project which is receiving 1.9 million dollars in funding from the global Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).
