In September 2026, members of Saxony’s SaxoCell cluster joined Leipzig’s ‘AI in Life Sciences Meetup’. The goal: To discuss real-world use cases and explore opportunities for joint projects.

Saxony’s precision therapy cluster SaxoCell wants to make cell and gene therapies more reproducible, scalable and cost-effective. One of the tools it will need to do so is artificial intelligence (AI). So cluster members were excited to join Leipzig’s regular ‘AI in Life Sciences Meetup’ in September of 2026. The meeting gave them the chance to present real-world use cases from R&D, manufacturing, and quality management – and explore with the expert audience where AI might be able to add value in the future.

The meetup, which was initiated by Saxony Trade & Invest, was also attended by experts from InfAI e.V. and the GenAI Hub Leipzig. The former is a non-profit research institute with strong AI and data science capabilities. The Leipzig University affiliate helps translate cutting-edge research into viable applications. The GenAI Hub Leipzig helps accelerate the adoption of generative AI by connecting companies with suitable AI experts. Together, they identify promising use cases, prototype them, and then integrate them into the business.
