Leipzig’s start-up accelerator SpinLab has launched a spin-off in Dresden. ExciteLab will support high-tech start-ups in fields like IoT, semiconductors, robotics, sensors and quantum computing.

Leipzig’s SpinLab – The HHL Accelerator has launched a spin-off in Dresden in cooperation with the city’s Technical University (TU Dresden) and with the support of regional companies, including Infineon Technologies, Mazars, Zeiss, MBG Sachsen and Von Ardenne. Called the ExciteLab, the new accelerator for high-tech start-ups will focus on key technologies like IoT, semiconductors, robotics, sensors and quantum computing. The first six-month accelerator program is kicking off in October 2024. Participating teams will receive support tailored to the individual needs of their company, as well as access to global companies and investors.
ExciteLab is part of TU Dresden’s TUD|excite centre for the promotion of innovation, technology transfer and entrepreneurship. Together with initiatives like Leipzig’s games-focused incubator R42, the accelerator will further strengthen Saxony’s leadership when it comes to fostering digital and e-health founders. SpinLab, which was recently named one of Europe’s leading start-up centers, had a record-breaking >500 applications for its new class. Of these, 10 start-ups from the fields of e-health, renewable energies and smart cities will be receiving support in 2024.
